LA SELLA GOLF

In 1986 some local businessmen had the idea to build facilities for a new up and coming sport in the Valencia community: golf. The name “La Sella” is adopted from the original cottage house, now the club house, named so in 1990 and represents the starting point for many foreign partners linked by golf.  4 of first 9 holes mark the authentic beginings of golf for the locals and the meeting point for a large group of foreign members.

At only 22, José María Olazábal was the strongest voice for the golf course, in charge of designing the first part. In 1992 the following 9 holes were inaugurated as well as a contemporary club-house with modern design with 50 partners from all over the world: United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, etc and many Spanish members, more and more numerous.

In 2000 José María Olazábal returned home to expand the course to 27 holes, enjoyed since January 2, 2010.

La Sella Golf-course is surrounded by Montgó Natural Park, a protected natural Mediterranean forest.

There are 3 tours of 9 holes, with three colors under the name of its geographical winds:

Llebeig: The first 9 holes are south-facing. In Valencian, this means a hot Sahara wind, prducing tropical and dry air. These holes hidden among enormous masses of pine-trees have spectacular views over Montgó Park. A varied course and difficult technically, a golfer will need all of his/her clubs here.

Gregal: The name of this wind comes from the fact that our ancestors used as orientation to reach Greece. The course is flatter with more water in play and it is designed to make you want to play again.

Mestral: This is a North wind, cold and feared by farmers. The new 9 holes towards to it, have three pars 3, 4, and 5, and are placed in a higher area with spectacular Sea-views of Segaria mountain and Montgó Natural Park. This course with wide paths and large greens invites you to enjoy golf in nature.
